    Angry Charlie noise

can you point at other design using LM833? I'm curious

    Angry Charlie noise

on a breadboard, the TL072 as configured in the Angry Charles does provide indeed 4.5V. Normal since there are no gain in the configuration. The question is, does it matter? The only thing I could see is it would allow the LM833 to pull more current from the 4.5V on the + input leg of the second...

    Angry Charlie noise

Another possibility is my bias voltage is simply using a voltage divider from Vcc. But I've seen on the Angry Charles design it uses a TL072 in the power section instead. Perhaps the op-amp supplies more current to the bias voltage compared to using a resistor divider. Otherwise I am not sure...

    Angry Charlie noise

I wonder if it's because the VCC is 9V. The datasheet for LM833 specifies that the minimum supply voltage should be 10V.

    Angry Charlie noise

I don't have soldered connection for ground on the enclosure, because my potentiometer have their body soldered to ground on the PCB and they are touching the enclosure directly. Continuity test between a ground point and the enclosure shows continuity

    Angry Charlie noise

Unscrewing the input jack and placing it away form the PCB did not help. It must be some kind of layout issue.

    Angry Charlie noise

yeah but then the back plate of the enclosure will be removed, and may introduce new noise. I will try anyway

    Angry Charlie noise

maybe the input signal jack is kinda close to the VCC on the pcb? it's about 2-3mm apart but it's unshielded.. I don't see much anything else

    Angry Charlie noise

I made my own angry charlie, including PCB layout. Mostly using SMD components. It works well, however it does generate a fair amount of noise when engaged and was wondering if it's because of my layout or if this pedal does generate lots of noise due to the nature of the circuit. My PCB has 4...

    Antithesis Fuzz PNP transistor

I found a few GT308A PNP Germanium transistors and they all work. I was wondering what kind of hFE should I be aiming for for the first transistor? Also, anyone knows how to measure leakage? Do I need a Peak DCA75? Or would any multi-tester do?

    Hydra Delay schematic

I did find this link, but not sure it's it, or what to do with the IC3 (does it needs a program, how can I look for one and how to upload it?)

Any chance the Hydra delay has a schematic we can look at?

    Son of Ben bias voltage

thanks for the answer, looks like I can get away with R9 and R12 using 18K and a 5K trim pot. Would be finer adjustment than the 50K one at least

    Son of Ben bias voltage

on Son of Ben, looking at the schematic and instructions for the various trimmer adjustments: - Trim1, can I replace R5 with a 12K (1%) and remove T1 all together? - Trim 2 and trim 3: can I remove R9 and R12, along with T2 and T3, and replace VCC with a direct 4.0V supplied voltage say VB that...

Prince Albert Overdrive: difference with RAH

Anyone built this one or was able to compare with the RAH? I noticed an additional cap at the input (270pF to ground, and 100nF inline instead of a 3.3nF inline and no cap to gnd), and a different cap in the tone stack (4.7nF instead of 47nF). It seems the Prince ALbert is more a copy of the...

Duocast: can the 1N5817 diodes be swapped to 1N4148 or 1N4001 in the power section?

They are Schottky with a reverse voltage of 20V; it's unclear if they are critical. Especially Vout is 27V so it seems a bit strange. Unless I don't understand their use.

Duocast: Anyone knows how the SJ1 switch is activated in the power section?

ah that makes a lot more sense! I wish the doc would explain that. Thanks mate.

Duocast: Anyone knows how the SJ1 switch is activated in the power section?

In the Duocast schematic, does anyone know what the SJ1 switch does in the power section? Is it activated manually? Is it always ON? The voltage switch is a SPDT so it is likely in one of the footswitch. I am guessing the bypass-footswitch is turning this switch on when the effect is engaged...
