Should I avoid making input and output signals 'cross' each other?

Thanks for the response! I suspected as much tbh, I more didn't want to come up with a solution than anything else. It should be easy to fix, I'll just add another row of perfboard above the ground line and bring the signal from there to the output, so it doesn't cross the input anymore. I...

Should I avoid making input and output signals 'cross' each other?

I'm designing my first perfboard layout for an adaptation of a silicon buzzaround from mac over at diystompboxes. I have a feeling the answer i yes, but I'm wonder if I should avoid putting bringing the output signal across the input of the board in order to avoid stuff like cross-talk and...

Making KiCad schematics look pretty (also I have no idea how to make ERC work)

I'm trying to 'say' on the schematic that the negative pin of the DC in isn't automatically connected to ground and is instead connected only at one point in a star grounding scheme, i.e. differentiate negative 0V from ground. That was my sort of automatic way of doing it, idk what the...

Making KiCad schematics look pretty (also I have no idea how to make ERC work)

Hey y'all! Doing a schematic on KiCad for the first time and I'm wondering what other people to make them look pretty. I'd like it to look a little more like PedalPCB's schematics, such as the input points for the circuit and also getting consistent spacing of reference and value of components...

Webpage for calculating how to change a potentiometer's response curve?

Thanks very much, that's what I was looking for 😁

Webpage for calculating how to change a potentiometer's response curve?

Hey! Many moons ago, I stumbled across a website that contained a calculator for turning linear pots into pots of any response curve. But! I completely forget what the website was called. And I can't find it in my browser's history because I'm using pretty generic search terms, like...

How hard would it be to bypass the buffers in a Boss DM2-W?

While we're on the buffering on boss waza craft pedals, what topology do they use on the output? I'd like to understand it a bit more so I can maybe implement it in one of my own designs.

How hard would it be to bypass the buffers in a Boss DM2-W?

I would say that a relay based TBP is identical to a 3PDT TBP in every single way. Honestly that's a good catch. Might be worth just eliminating it from the circuit altogether.

How hard would it be to bypass the buffers in a Boss DM2-W?

Hmmm, that certainly is a bit more complicated. Or a lot more complicated. In theory you could use a relay bypass module like PedalPCBs own to make a Boss pedal true bypass whilst still using the same foot switch built into the pedal. That's just harder to do on the waza ones because you'll...

Boneyard Compressor+Plumes Distortion High Pitch Squeal Issues?

I use Sand away any paint on the inside of the enclosure where you're making ground, probably the audio jacks for you. Either a palmer pwt12 mk 2 or a 1spot cs 12 I repaired, cos I have too many pedals haha. Same here, when I used the variable voltage outputs of my pwt12. You defo need a good...

Boneyard Compressor+Plumes Distortion High Pitch Squeal Issues?

It's not stupid to copy a build guide 😁(y). It's hard to underestimate the hours I've spent in college and online figuring this stuff out. I don't think it's fair to expect everyone in the pedal building hobby to also go to college to do electrical engineering in order to figure out best...

Boneyard Compressor+Plumes Distortion High Pitch Squeal Issues?

Honestly, it's probably the same or similar to this. Looking at the schematic, it doesn't include a 100nf film/ceramic cap from 9v to ground. I recommend doing as I mentioned earlier, taking the +v lug of the input jack and connecting a 100nF cap from it to the chassis, as close as possible. I...

Boneyard Compressor+Plumes Distortion High Pitch Squeal Issues?

That certainly is an interesting option, but, in my opinion, changing a high impedance JFET opamp to low impedance BJT opamp is not so much solution in this particular instance as it is a mod that is done tubescreamer circuits. I imagine the noise went away due to the differences in current...

Boneyard Compressor+Plumes Distortion High Pitch Squeal Issues?

This should be eminently solvable. Fist, add a bypass cap (100nF) directly from the 9v positive input on the power jack to the enclosure. Use the ground lug of the input jack in this case. This has solved, "whistling," noises on my pedals before. This is especially important when you've got a...

How hard would it be to bypass the buffers in a Boss DM2-W?

It is! But I'm annoying and pedantic and a little too enthusiastic with looking for the best possible solutions to a problem.

How hard would it be to bypass the buffers in a Boss DM2-W?

Is there a reason you need to turn this into a true bypass pedal? The waza craft buffers are really good, a noticeable improvement over the standard boss compact series bypass.

An Idea for a Universal Input Buffer/Booster (onboard)

I mean, technically, there is a reverse current leakage from that diode to ground, reducing your voltage with it 🤓🤓🤓 But it realistically isn't that much haha

Fun with CMOS - part 2 - The Muff #49

It's definitely annoying that MOSFETs can be so noisy, there are so many cool designs that use them!. But I guess you just gotta look big picture and realise that electric guitar signals are just noisy in general. There's a certain amount of voltage noise that's acceptable, but I really do like...

Fun with CMOS - part 2 - The Muff #49

What do you do about the generally very high voltage noise of MOSFETs? I'm presuming in this case is just live with it, 'cos it's a muff and it's noisey anyways.

    My self build guitar Pedals

Thanks haha. I misunderstood and thought only the second pedal was UV printed.
