    Desoldering Advice

I suppose you can order the needles in different gauges too. I’ll have to look. I mean I use hemostats every day working on our stuff already - scalpel is next I suppose!

    Desoldering Advice

When an Engineer solder sucker alone will not work I've had good luck with stainless steel desoldering needles. I've broke quite a few though, I've yet to find a good quality set. Basically you heat up the needle and it melts the solder, you press the needle so it covers the whole leg inside...

Meeeeeee toooooo. Love plate. I've toyed with this too. Whoever gets there first start a thread up :)

    Reverb Preferences

There's not a lot in stompbox form that will be as good as plugins in your DAW, even less cheap options, and nearly no DIY options (Daisy Seed has potential, we'll get their soon enough). The exceptions are the UA, Eventide, Strymon, and Meris pedals (I am sure I am forgetting a few). Man I...

    Reverb Preferences

Like @Locrian99 Im a bit of a snob when it comes to DIY reverbs. I have a Meris Mercury X that feels like peak pedal board based reverb. I default to a tight “room” reverb that just helps the Ox Box cab sims with some subtle space. I like plate style reverbs quite a bit too. As far as DIY I...

(Ab)using the 3-Channel Splitter and Mixer PCBs in a 15V dual supply project...

This last weekend I had a project idea pop into my head and I ordered these PCBs to use as part of it, but I'll have a 15V dual supply for power. I know I could just get away with using the positive rail for the Splitter and Mixer but for headroom purposes I'd like to use both. @Robert looking...

    Dunwich Cthulhu: "Whippoorwill Fuzz" (w/Gerber)

Beautiful! The Whippoorwill is likely the most significant bird species in the Lovecraft stories. Straining to remember other birds in the stories, the only other that comes mind immediately are penguins in the Mountains of Madness. Great choice :)

    Legit LM308n ?

That's a rosy way of looking at it, one that would be more applicable if these copies were not marked up to real part mojo prices. It's a bummer there are less trusted sources each year as us old fucks die off or retire. Like, for example, Steve from Small Bear. I'm sure there are still troves...

    Legit LM308n ?

This dude is one of my favorite Ebay sellers: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116533599477?_skw=308&itmmeta=01K4WKGFE7D7ZYNR3D7G046H2W&hash=item1b21f19cf5:g:V4cAAOSwdU5gb2wX If you search on the forum others have had good luck with him too. The NO CHINA BS guy :)

    Wire Wars

I have sometimes done that. I use 18 gauge pre bond for the chassis earth connection. Stranded is more mechanically robust than solid. Anyway, 18 gauge pre bond is pretty girthy and stiff, it’s almost like solid core in terms of bending it etc. It’s fairly easy to insert it into teflon...

    1 Watt Resistors?!?

Everything else the same ... higher wattage rating should be less noisy. Aiken has a good write up here: https://www.aikenamps.com/index.php/resistor-types-does-it-matter

hey, everybody, I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt, and my butt smells, and I like to kiss my own butt

DIY is a money pit, and the more you DIY of your DIY projects, the bigger money pit it becomes. I second the Black Eye, and basically agree with everything said so far in this thread.

PPCB 3 Channel Mixer and Splitter.

The power plugs are the cheap Tayda copies. You should grab a few with your order. I’m not sure about the outtie and innies, but you’d likely be fine with those too. For the LEDs, solder those close to last. I adjusted the height so the LED rests against the back of the face plate and the tip...

Amp Build Help! BE-50 Transformers and Chassis questions.

My transformer rec would be get what's best overall for the core amp, disregard the relay requirements. The Heyboer stuff from APD is priced well, I've had good luck with them. Then for relays, and perhaps DC heaters for your preamp tubes as well, get one of these...

    Turning 3-channel mixer into stereo

Ahh I understand now 👍 I have two sets of PPCB splitters and mixers, I’ve used the two mixers like you describe (albeit separate pedals rather than a dual concentric control) to mix a OX Box and OX Stomp going into to my stereo board. It does work, its just not as intuitive as separate pan and...

    Turning 3-channel mixer into stereo

I’ve had a couple of glasses of wine so bear with me… but a stereo signal… for stereo pan and stereo volume you would need a total of four pots (two dual in my example). What does dual concentric bring to the table? I think OP wants stereo in and out, not mono in stereo out.
