Difference between the old and new revisions of the hyped fuzz

Ah, cool thanks. I've been building the dpdt one for a while but my boards were a little older, they didn't have the same silkscreened v2 designator. I thought maybe the ones I was using were v1. Thanks for the help!

Difference between the old and new revisions of the hyped fuzz

Hi, Does anyone know what changed between the first and second versions of the hyped fuzz? Thanks! Ernie

Early rev of the protoboard charge pump heat

The resistances are: ref: ~10k 3.3v: 620ohms 5v: 940ohm 9v: 940ohm -9v: 300k steadily slowly increasing..... 18v: 300k steadily moderate increasing..... (its a fluke autorange so for the increasing values, it just keeps going up in increments) Thanks Ernie

Early rev of the protoboard charge pump heat

Yeah, I even tried backwards just in case the silkscreen was wrong, in the opposite position, the chip stops voltage to all the voltage pins completely. Thanks for the suggestion!

Early rev of the protoboard charge pump heat

Yeah, if nothing is plugged into the headers. I went to check the 3.3, 5, 9, -9 18v just to double check and I was getting low readings. Then I put my usual finger on the top of the charge pump and it was scalding hot (I blew through a few, tried 1044, lt1054....) The only other time this has...

Early rev of the protoboard charge pump heat

Has anyone had any issues with their protoboard frying charge pumps? I feel like there is something wrong where the 9v plane is bridged somehow, not sure though. Its one of the earliest protoboards (its black in color). I can still get by with no chip, just won't have -9 and 18v..... Thanks Ernie

    Substitutes for MPF4393 ?

Hi, Try here: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Central-Semiconductor/PN4393?qs=sGAEpiMZZMuw1rG4%252BG7fpo0gMEgViPlHQXxsNV2UI18%3D I just wish they weren't so expensive :) Thanks Ernie

    1n914 vs 1n914B -- Sound difference

I don't think there will be an issue imho. I do tend to use 1n4148s usually.

Twin Face volume difference from PNP to NPN

Check the bias pot, but npn is usually a little bit noisier and the gain is higher as well imho.

    Super Heterodyne Receiver BOM question

There is a picture of the board on FB that may help: https://www.facebook.com/PedalPCB/photos/a.505866533118818/752355131803289/?type=3&theater

    Sunflower Fuzz

Your best bet is what alchemy suggested, but a tested pair from smallbear for a fuzz face. I can also get you a matched pair as well of russian germaniums: hfe 90-100 for T1 and hfe 120+ for T2 for $10. I have a bunch.

    Muzzle

An LT1054 getting hot usually means you might have a short somewhere. Double check for any solder bridges. If you buy charge pumps from authorized places, you should(99.99999% of the time) never get faulty ones.

    Trouble with Octogon

Hi, One thing about the fv1 is its easy for the solder to blob up and appear to make a connection between the board and fv-1 pins when there isn't one. Try examining the pins under a magnifying glass and reflow ones that look suspect. If that doesn't help, then reflow all of them.

    Seabed Delay

If you have a spare PT2399 around (or even a few) I would try some different ones. Sometimes some sources have suspect ones and they don't quite work well in all pedals sometimes.

    Threeverb parameter question

Hi, Given the modes: Hypernova – Modulated Reverb Glimmer – Shimmer Reverb Radium Springs – Spring Reverb The controls are Dwell – Controls length of reverb decay (for all modes) Parameter 1 – Mod Depth (Hypernova) /Shimmer Pitch (Glimmer) /Tone (Radium Springs) Parameter 2 – Mod Rate...
