    For the tactical I ordered two germanium 2n1308's from amplified parts. I didn't have to carefully hand sort through 1000 transistors to find the key ingredient. I just stuck them in and they're totally fine.

    Damn, I can't believe you were able to salvage that transformer! The last time I tried to do that it was a no go since those things are so sensitive.
