Went back and messed with a bit more today. Going back to the original R6 of 91k and dropping R7 to 1.2K without any other changes gives me the best sound with volume boost. Moved unity from 4 ‘oclock to around 2. About 3dB improvement. Good enough.

I think this is probably the way to go. I should have bought 3-400 of the ones I have instead of 100. They were way cheaper than tants.

Mine are Nichicons.

They are 3x5mm nichicons. Those 4x5 are the smallest I’ve seen so far besides the ones I have.

Here I have one circled on a Madbean Glitchee. The very bottom cap on the board is a 1uF/160v which I believe is 5x11mm (that’s the only other 1uF I had and I didn’t want to use the few small ones I had left.

Anyone know where you might be able to get these tiny 1uF/50V caps anymore? I’m running to the end of my supply and they sure are nice being at least 1/2 the size of most I can seem to find.

Curious what effect swapping the 2M4 resistor (R36) between Q3 and Q7 bases to a 2M2 might cause? I only ask because I don’t have any 2M4 resistors laying around and don’t need to place an order for anything else. Yes I missed them on the last order.

Mine, finally finished.

I ended up using an MP38A with an HFe of 55 and leakage at 85uA. Used 2n2222 and BC109C for the others. 1N70 diode but I have no idea on the leakage. Just kept swapping out diodes and Q3 until I found a combo I liked and the voltages looked good. Definitely one of my new favorites though.

In my case nobody’s that interested, cept my wife.
