2-channel loop switcher with remote switches - advice welcome.

I think my build is working the way it is supposed to, so I didn't post in troubleshooting.

I'm building a 2-channel loop switcher that is intended to be controlled by 2 switches connected via a TRS cable. I think I made several assumptions that were incorrect. My real question is: What would be a correct way to implement this?

I have two non-latching relay bypass modules in this. This is my first time using the non latching version. After working through a few issues, I removed the TRS jack and tested by tapping the footswitch leads together. One thing that surprised me was that after I tapped a pair together, that relay stayed on. I assumed that non-latching would behave like a momentary switch, and the relay would switch off as soon as the wires were no longer connected. A related assumption was that I should use a momentary relay module, so that my controller can own the "state" of the relay because it has the latch.

The next assumption I had was that I could connect the NE555 side of the FS to the TIP and RING, and the other side of the two to ground.

So now I have this 1590B crammed with 7 phone jacks, a dc jack and two relay modules. There's no room for a 2nd control jack if I need to separate them. But I could yank out the modules for a better solution.

Are you saying you want to use one TRS wire to control the two relay modules? Maybe you could make one wire from FS on both modules go to the tip of the TRS. and have ring and sleeve connect to the other FSs.

Tip>FS on both
Ring>FS module1
Sleeve>FS module2

and on the controller have two momentary switches one that connects ring to tip and one that connect sleeve to tip. not really sure if thats what you're trying to do

Thanks for responding. I do want to use one TRS jack to control two relays. I think the relay modules I’m using are not the right solution.

I need the remote switches to “own” the state. The switches are MIDI-controlled, so I don’t want to create a mismatch where the controller shows it’s ON and the and the loop is toggled OFF. So I figured, non-latching relay + latching remote switches.

yeah that non-latching ralay got me for my wah mod. I did get my wah working with this. maybe you can make use of it

the white blocks are jst connectors
