This concoction is my permanent breadboard version of Moritz Klein’s 808 hihat. I managed to squeeze the brains onto a 125B size breadboard and then wired the controls and jacks onto a separate piece of Veroboard, as you see.
Took a lot of pains with this one only to discover that the voltage reading from the emitter of the top left transistor was not adequate for the 40106. Needs minimum 3V for the chip to function, according to Moritz’ very clear instruction manual. Replaced that and hey presto, a working funky hihat.
I’ll get my friendly local 3D print shop to make me a cover to match the 808 snare I recently made and I’ll be in drum machine heaven (or close enough for jazz). Once enclosed, I’ll certainly tidy up the wiring and will need to make a more reliable power supply but so far, so good
