I am perpetually searching for the Vox in a box sound. I should bite the bullet and build the amp, but I really don't have the room to accommodate another amp. However, pedals are so much easier to hide from the wife...

I have built the Victory Copper clone and the Catalinbread Galileo. I like the Copper clone better because it can be played clean! Comparing the Acetylene Overdrive, to these pedals, it compares best with the Victory Copper. It can play clean and dirty. The boost channel is a nice added touch (though you can add a second gain knob/footswitch to the Victory clone). The tone has the perfect chime. I believe it is easier to tame the treble on the Acetylene Overdrive, especially with the Top cut. All around, I think it does a great job.

Build tips- Space is a premium. Make sure your holes are drilled accurately and dry fit the parts. I had to coax the pots into the right positions. Secondly, pay attention to the silkscreen. I placed a J113 in the J201 spot!

Lastly, any suggestions for another Vox in a box?
