Adding an on/off switch and LED

Hi, I started building a few months ago and have right now completed 3 pedals and two more ready to be started.

I wanted to build a pedal for my wife that can work on a battery, that part is easy enough. But she tends to forget to remove her input so I thought I could wire a switch with a led (and resistor of course).

1. Am I right in thinking that the switch would be ok on the wire going from the power jack to the (+) side of the board, with the resistor/led go from the switch to the ground ? or (-) side of the board ?
2. Will the resistor (or even the LED) affect the rest of the board, causing issues of change in sound ?

I wanted to do that on a cream pie fuzz or the ocelot octave.

Thank you !
