Advice on balancing text?

When I’m working in Corel, I’m constantly zooming out to 100% (I usually work around 250% magnified) to make sure I can actually make out my graphics!

I also frequently print out the graphics I design at 600dpi, tape them to a spare enclosure, and put it among other pedals on my board to see how legible every is from standing distance when put against a crowded background
