Amp Issue

Okay so I have a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100 from 2000. It's been my main amp. I don't go to any other forums so I thought I'd ask here.

I was getting ready to practice on it tonight and all of a sudden the volume got really low. Normally a quarter up on the volume and it will blow your hair back. I can dime it and it still be super low. I did hear a pop before it started acting up.

The tubes all looks fine. I reseated them. I tried a different cabinet. Still low volume.

Everything I started to read is its likely the output transformer. Has anyone else experienced and are we looking at replacing a transformer? Or should I be looking elsewhere?

The DSL 2000s are known to have a faulty board layout and a crummy PCB that becomes conductive with age, which can and often does result in the board catching fire. They can fail without catching fire too. There's a fairly invasive fix that involves cutting the board and moving the bias circuit off onto a separate PCB. Dr. Tube has a kit for it
