Any Canadians use a US address service and pick up packages to save on duties and shipping?

Any Canadians using a service like NYaddress.ca or similar to receive packages then pick them up near the border? A friend of mine recently told me he does this and saves tons on duties/shipping (he also lives 15 mins from the border).

Apparently UPS has a similar service.

I don't think it'd care much for the odd PCB order, but I'm about to order hundreds in parts from 5 different stores. Just have to do the math on the shipping/duties savings vs the fees and gas to/from (would probably make a day of it).

I haven’t tried that one. I did try MyUS, but it wound costing me more and taking longer than just shipping directly to me. If you try NYaddress.ca, I’d be interested to know how it goes.

Oh yeah, I looked at MyUS, but they seemed a bit more expensive. I called the NYaddress guy, as it says all packages require a tracking number, which I'm not sure if I always have (depends on the shipping options, I imagine?).

Just doing the math on what I want to order vs how much shipping will be, etc.

I was also curious what you declare at the border when driving back. My friend says he just tells them they went grocery shopping and usually get waived through, but it would defeat the purpose for me if I had to drive an hour each way only to pay duties, etc. anyway.

I'll probably stick with the usual shipping for now while I keep asking around.
