Anyone else disappointed with Triangulum Boost?

I just finished a combo build last night using the Two Sticks of Derm into the Triangulum Boost. I am not sure if this should be in the troubleshooting thread but the Triangulum boost has a very farty, distorted sound with a BC550. Any other NPN transistor alleviates the problem but then does not provide much gain.

For anyone who has built this board, what is your feeling?

Was just about to do that but had a very happy accident testing a BC517 my Triangulum Boost. The only downside is I will need to have to drill a new enclosure.
So the Bc517 worked pretty good? I have a Triangulum in the que and an Isosceles... and a dwarven hammer..... aaaannd a Valhalla...Annnd about a dozen other boards I still need to get to. (But I digress.) just curious if the BC517 was a notable difference and in what way.

Keeping in mind that my PCB is not behaving properly, the BC517 works well. I of course recommend using single line sockets to test various NPN transistors.
