Best price on TO-5 sockets?

I have a few left and need to buy more, but these things are pricey compared to many other parts, especially when using three in a single pedal. I bought them from Digi-Key last time as they had the best price I could find, and they are $1.36 each if I buy 25, but was wondering if anyone had a lead on a less expensive source. After shipping and tax that's still about $5 per pedal for three sockets and was hoping I could cut that down a little bit. I doubt they'll come much cheaper, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Are these the ones you’re talking about?¿

I’ve been buying these https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mill-Max/917-43-103-41-005000?qs=teNCaa/Z3auQVxVMs/5ihg==

but it looks like that’s the same ones from digikey cheaper??

That’s saying .90 apiece when you buy 25
That’s a good price compared to mouser

even 100 from mouser is still $1.17 apiece
Dude, am I on drugs? wtf just happened? I swear it had 1pc at $1.64 and then down from there, now 1pc is $1.12?

I think I am losing my mind.....

Okay... I'm only half crazy... maybe.

These were the ones I was looking at first. Not sure why the price difference:

How about switching to less elegant and less pro looking solution? I'm talking about precision pin sockets. 40 pins in a row.

Yeah mouser and digikey are tricky like that
So I wonder if those cheaper ones will work?¿
Because I’ve been trying to find a cheaper solution myself

I have a ton of the 40 pin sockets and use them a lot, and they tend to work fine for the TO-92 package with the thicker legs, but on the thin leg germanium ones they don't seem to be all that bitey and after removing the transistor a couple of times they don't hold too well.

the price difference is because of the amount of gold plating on the contact pins. the less expensive ones (917-47-103-41-005000) are flash plated, the more expensive ones (917-93-103-41-005000) have a slightly thicker plating. from mill max's catalog page. in our contexts the former are more than enough
