So while I wait for Robert to drop the Signal Blender and a 4 tap DC converter PCB I spent New Year's Day finally getting to a project I've wanted to do for a long time; Rehousing my massive Big Muff Pi. It was actually a pretty smooth job.
The key to it all was using 9mm pots. Freed up just enough vertical space to make everything fit. Not perfect and the waterslide decal was a fiasco, but maybe I'll play it more now that it finally fits on my pedalboard. Thinking about using the old enclosure as a lunch box. It's about the right size.
The EC3003 circuit board came out in 2000 and it's pretty spacious relatively speaking. Solder pads were all really stout and generously sized. So if anyone is of a mind to mod their Big Muff, the NY reissue is a pretty good candidate for it. I don't love the Big Muff enough to do so. The only change I made was to swap out the 500kA volume pot for a 100kA, like the old ones used to be. Maybe that will change.
