Aite. So, I'm in the process of ruining a ruined old pedal.

I picked this guy up. May have over paid, now that I see the thing.

Somebody on reverb had an old Wau Wau Fuzz *way* below market price. The only caveat? It looks like it's been out in a damp shed for a few decades.

So...corrosion. The paint is fucked, the enclosure is pretty rusty. I've already gone over it with a sanding wheel a bit to get the worst offenders off and loose. What's left is pretty rough. Pitting for days.

But...salvageable. Methinks. Just needs a bit of filler, a bit of sanding, a bit of TLC. The board itself looks great, though the switches and pots all likely need to be replaced.

But...this is far outside of my realm of expertise. Anybody got any good resources? 1000009242.jpg

I'd try acetone to get the remaining paint off, get some color into the pitting then lacquer it. Maybe even etch it first, covering some parts to keep the etch off. Ferric Chloride works fine.

Hmm. I do like these ideas. Its in keeping with my tendency towards making pedals all war torn and battle worn.

Plus...less work on my end. I'm real bad at making things look pretty. Don't have the patience for perfection.

Thinking since this is already pretty far outside a "collectors piece" , I can probably outfit it with a stickman inductor and make the wah portion of the circuit worth a damn.

Stan Winston School Of Character Arts. It's an online school with very flexible access. I've learned a lot about finishes, techniques, diabolical repurposing of materials from assorted classes there. The Chiodo Brothers stop motion classes are a note taking frenzy. One thing I learned is that old is easier than new, uglier easier than pretty, old people easier to sculpt than babies.

Pristine is boring.
