Box of 100 1T313V Ge Transistors Tested

Here's the results for the box of 100 1T313V, though there were 4 or 5, 1T313B sprinkled in. The data sheet suggested a hFE range of 20 - 250 so I had high hopes there would be a nice range of gains in the box. However, as you will see from the results, that was not the case. In fact I would say this batch was largely disappointing, though again a few diamonds in the rough, and low leakage throughout mean there are some devices of use here.

A bit of internet lore (https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=62472.0) suggests that this range of hFE has some precedent. Some further discussion suggests the presence of a shunt resistor which may lower the hFE reported by testers, though to what degree I don't know.

This was a factory sealed NOS box, and I have to say I did very much enjoy the unboxing experience. There was a bit of thrill to see the original data sheet in the box.

Have yet to put any of these devices in a circuit. Funnily enough I'm not a big fuzz guy, I prefer the more "preamp" type stuff. I have so many on hand though I will likely give it a try.
I got some mp42b almost all between 40 and 60, I installed a 40 into the hudson broadcast clone and sounded amazing, Now I wonder how it will sound with something between 19 and 30 :o

I guess some low gain rangemasters will be cool.
