I don't really want to add a knob or switch, I just wanna perma-cut some of that tubby low-end. Is there a component swap one could do that would, just like... move the shelf frequency or something?

Edit: follow-up a few weeks later - i replaced that 1k5 resistor with a 22k and have been quite pleased

You can replace the 2.2uf cap in series with the 1.5k resistor with a smaller cap. If you stick a .22uf cap there the frequency will shift from 48hz (well below the entire signal of a guitar) to 482hz or so which is still thicker than a tubescreamer, but not super loose. It'll be the same amount of gain, but the frequency shelf higher.
