Cepheid and Celsius Combo Build

Before I decide to pull the trigger on these PCBs I want to ask if anyone has combined these two effects to make a pseudo Chorus Ensemble-1.5. I got this idea after reading about how the original CE-1 only really worked properly with line level equipment, and how the CE-2 was designed specifically for instrument level gear. One of the major points that people loved about the CE-1 was the preamp and I think the CE-2 Chorus into the CE-1 Preamp would be a killer combo.

sounds like a cool idea, i built the celsius and will say that there's some treble drop at higher gain levels.

why ce2->ce1 and not preamp first? i suppose if it's instrument level then the preamplification isn't necessary, but thought i'd ask anyway, i think it's an interesting question. maybe have a switch to flip the order???

The switch idea is something I will have to keep in mind now, thank you for the idea. I can't remember if the preamp was before or after the chorus/vibrato but I thought I read the preamp was after the wet effect somewhere, at this moment in time I am too lazy to read the schematic so I'll look it up tomorrow. I appreciate the reply dude.

I built this, except that I used a CE-1 clone instead of the CE-2 in combo with the Celsius. That being said, I used 2 foot switches so that I could run the two effects independently (just preamp or just chorus) so I’ve been able to try the preamp with my CE-2 clone as well they sound virtually identical. You’re going to want to consider having a buffer on the input or somewhere upstream in your chain as this is a widely known solution to the treble drop when using the preamp on the higher gain channel.
