I finished a Chickenhead build with a few mods (after first building stock) and several socketed components:
- Replaced the A10K boost with B10K
- Replaced the B100K cap blend pot with A500K and wired in reverse (ala Naga Viper), giving a typical tone control sweep from most bass (full CCW) to most treble (full CW).
- Narrowed the input cap pair to 15nf/100nf and increased the output cap to 100nf
- Transistor is a Russian MP38A
One other mod I tried was to replace the range pot with a toggle switch. This added the 2nd cap in parallel to the first when closed. Once I discovered and got the PPCB Aft preamp, I removed it and went forward with the A500K mod described above.
