Clipping LED in parentheses not light up

Should the clipping LED inside the parentheses light up when signal passes through it in at least one of its clipping modes?

Mine doesn't appear to.

Also, sounds to me that position 1 & 2 are identical in sound. Is it safe to assume my LED is dead and this is essentially giving me 2 germanium clipping modes that are identical because the LED is not making one of them asymmetrical?

Mine do light up (built 3), but I think it only applies to one selector mode.

If I recall correctly, the mode order is: IC only/ symmetrical silicon diodes with LED (lights up)/ asymmetrical silicon/ germanium.

So the second selection mode starting from the loudest (germanium is quietest)
