I needed to build this pedal. It has long been a favorite. After seeing @OD is Glorious ’s build where he stuffed it into a 1590B, I knew what my mission was. But I’m a top jack enthusiast. So rather than a 1590B, I used a proper Hammond 1590B2 in Cobalt Blue. This gave plenty of room for top jacks.

The pedal sounds great at all settings. I rarely play any pedal with the gain dimed, but it worked here. You can easily back off on the guitar’s volume to clean things up. I played a Strat, a PRS Custom 24 with SD Seth Lovers in it and an Epiphone ES-339 with P90’s and all can sound good through it. AND it has top jacks!

Despite the board being crowded, it was a smooth build. I did do one interesting thing. I used MMBFJ201‘s pre-soldered to an adapter board. I found the machined, round pin with right angle pin headers shown below on Amazon. I used them in the MMBFJ201 boards and was able to socket the J201’s with standard breakaway SIP sockets. Again, since I’m using 1590b2, there was plenty of room.

I used a Koala white no-spray waterslide decal and clear coated with Rustoleum Painters Touch 2X. The knobs are standard Boss skirted reflector knobs with the exception of the tone knob, which is a smaller non-skirted reflector knob. I also got my hands on the Boss font and used that for all of the labels.

Absolutely agree with everyone else, this is a fantastic build!

But this in particular...

I did do one interesting thing. I used MMBFJ201‘s pre-soldered to an adapter board. I found the machined, round pin with right angle pin headers shown below on Amazon. ...is pure genius. If anyone else has done that, I haven't noticed. It's a small thing, but sure makes the overall build look more professional. I've got a Cobalt PCB in my "to build" pile, I'll be copying this when I get around to building it.
