Does this count as the last build of 2021, or the first build of 2022? I started it, got it mostly done at the end of 2021, but didn't actually finish until 2022. Either way, here is my completed Comprehensive Drive (based on Free the Tone String Slinger).
I was looking for a light overdrive, edge-of-breakup kind of thing. All the online demos of this drive (at least the COTS version), made it sound like it was exactly what I wanted. And it absolutely works in that role. It's just not meeting my neurotic requirements... At very low drive levels, it's surprisingly transparent. I know many people really want that in a pedal, but in this case I want just a hint of coloration. My two favorites for this role are currently either the ubiquitous Boss BD-2 with drive set very low, or a Fuzz Aldrin built to Screw Driver specs.
Definitely a simple, straightforward build. Who knows, my tastes change like the wind, tomorrow I might think it's the best thing ever.
