Since I'm sure I can't really compete with many folks here in terms of jamming some bad ass riffs, and because the only instrument I'm somewhat competent at is bass (and who want's a bass solo track?), I figured I might as well give the track some bass in case someone wanted to use it. Only some very minor noodling, I promise!

Sorry for the lack of intro space. I left some space on the finished product but it seems to have disapeared somwehere in between exporting from Reaper and uploading to Soundcloud.

Also, Dan: thank you for doing this. I posted that photo of my "studio" yesterday and then began feeling guilty for not using it enough. Today I am WFH and don't have much to do so I figured I would play around with this stuff but I didn't really have anything specific I wanted to do until I saw your post. Thanks for giving me something to learn with and that helped inspire me and make my day better.

I’d love to participate, but to do so I’d have to learn how to record things, learn how to post those recordings … oh, first and foremost I’d have to learn how to play an instrument — can’t record and post dead-air… or can I. Hmmm

I heard bass in the very beginning of this one but was having a hard time picking it up later on and that's what gave me the idea. No need for any uploads for me, but I appreciate it. I was just having a bit of fun.
The bass in the original track is panned to the right pretty hard, but is very present when I listen.

I just listened again today and I can't believe I missed it, now. I should have listened to it better before trying to learn it - I think I was covering it up since I had my bass turned up so loud compared to the original track when I was getting the changes down. Either way I still think I'd have played over it mostly the same.

I suppose my caution should extend to play-alongs. :ROFLMAO:

According to UPS, tomorrow is NGD for yours truly, so game on suckers! So, I've got until the 23rd to learn how to play and write a solo for the piece.....shouldn't be a huge issue.

Anyone have a link showing how to play a guitar? Hopefully one that also explains how those letters correspond to the strings, and why the hell there are two "e" ones!

Two "e"? No, you should tune it to DADGAD and rock some Kashmir!

Elvis Costello wrote (read?) a book about that.

I figured it would be up your alley considering his description: “This isn't strictly speaking an instructional manual, but a work of comedic philosophy.” :ROFLMAO:

The last book I read (apart from technical stuff) was Brave New World. I've been too afraid to pick up another, but I'll make an exception in Mr. Costello's case. Thanks mio amico!
