Beautiful. Glorious guitars from an era where they were what was required. There are still beautiful guitars being built today thank goodness! My Terada-built Gretsch '53 VS Duojet is a stunningly well built guitar. As is a guitar I just bought last week - a brand new Epiphone USA Casino. Made by Gibson it is flawlessly finished (which was a pleasant surprise), plays like a dream and sounds incredible.

It's just that the market for huge archtop guitars made to be loud without an amplifier is quite limited these days because we have electric guitars with amplifiers. But they are a joy to look at. I think an L5 must be one of the most perfectly shaped guitars of all time. The Gretsch 6120 comes pretty close.
