Hi all,

I have been planning/procrastinating on a rather complex 5-channel looper, with LEDs and switchable buffers and tuner/noise gate outs and all sorts of goodies, but in the meantime, I wanted to get some practice/experience with drilling, layouts, wiring, etc in those big looper enclosures.

So I built this simpler 4-channel loop switcher, based on the schematic posted here. It's a pretty straightforward build. I made some slight modifications to the original schematic, mainly in my grounding scheme (which I'm still not 100% sure on), and reordering the channels so that 1 is on the right/input side and 4 is on the left/output side. The main change is my DC power breakout board. I designed it for my more complicated build as a way to centralize all the needed 9V and ground connections into one place, as the later build will have an active buffer circuit for each channel times 5 channels. That could get messy/spaghetti quick, so I figured a single breakout board would be a good idea, and it worked perfectly here. The switcher will work with no power, but I find LEDs are a must on these thing.

Art-wise, I kept it simple and utilitarian (which is code for I'm not artistic and it's too cold here to do waterslides) to match the bare enclosure. Best of all, it worked right off the bat!

I do have some questions on the grounding though. I have heard that loopers have a tendency to introduce hum/ground loops if you're not careful. I'm using low-profile jacks from Amplified Parts and daisy-chaining them together, essentially creating a ground buss. The solder tabs on the jacks made this especially easy compared to say Lumbergs. This was a happy accident more than a design decision, as I just got a 20-pack in the mail, but I'm glad it worked, and I'll be using it on my later build. So grounding. Does the way I have it done look right, and does anyone see any obvious flaws or problems? Essentially everything connects to the ground buss, which has a single connection to the DC jack, sort of simulating a star ground pattern.

Thanks for looking, and please hit me with any ideas, mods, criticisms, or comments!
