So back to older, obscure circuits, which I usually LOVE more than the "homogenized" sound of newer circuits, this is the Ibanez CD5 Distortion from their brief toy-like "Soundtank" series. Some of which were actually pretty cool circuits.
The Cyborg is definitely one of the cool ones!
Essentially it's an LED soft clipping distortion circuit with a parametric resonant filter for the tone control.
So think, a Overdrive/Distortion with a built in fixed wah onboard.
Rolling the Tone control gets you from muffled wah all the way to ear piercing screaming.
It's definitely not something I'd use regularly but it's got some really cool sounds for certain applications.
Recommended build for something different than the usual overdrive/distortion circuits.
This is actually a purplish enclosure but for some reason my phone camera makes it look blue. (I think anyway, I'm colorblind....so there's that...
)
