Hi everyone,
DipTrace 5.3 is now out of beta and available as a stable release.
The major new feature since 5.2 is interactive editing.
The board editor now pushes surrounding traces and vias as you move or edit components, pads, vias, traces, mounting holes, shapes, and the board outline, including during rotation. As you edit a trace, it walks around pads, keepouts, and other obstacles. You can enforce design rules at all times or snap to the last violation-free point and continue from there when needed.
A new length-priority routing mode lets you sketch a rough path and have the router decide what to push and what to route around.
Since the beta, we've focused on making interactive editing more reliable on densely routed boards, along with fixing issues reported by beta testers, including improvements to bypass reroute handling.
Other additions in 5.3 include: native XML project format with full support for the same workflow as the native binary format (Save/Open, Place from Library, Save Library, etc.), database-powered component search with preview, Mouser integration, Batch Assembly Tracking in the HTML BOM, QR Code support, monospaced vector font with fractional font sizes, and DXF import/export improvements.
The update is free for all 5.x users.
