Distortr

Here is my Distortr build. I tend to like discreet transistor circuits and I had to add this to the collection. It sounds great, very open and lively, not at all compressed like a lot of overdrives. Pretty much the opposite of a tube screamer. The gain switch adds a bit of volume as well as saturation. The subs switch is very sub...tle, at least in my setup. I'm really impressed with the pedal.

I like using these short bat switches and mounting them super down low so they don't have threading showing. This means I have to off board them as the body of the switch is too big to use the PCB mounts. I normally put these switches level with the footswitch but I thought having them either side of the LED indicator would look cool. Unfortunately I forgot that the PCB is supposed to exist in that space so I had to change everything around to make it all fit.

I straightened the pots' legs to make them taller and mounted these two caps on the back. This brought the board closer to the audio jacks so I had to modify them as well.

Here is the switch arrangement. After this I globbed some hot glue on the switch leads so they won't interfere with the contacts on the PCB

All done. A bit hectic but it works!

What could be simpler? Way to make things hard for yourself! :ROFLMAO: Still, all's well that ends well. I share your liking for short bat switches set deep into the enclosure. I think pcb designers should allow for that. Exposing too much switch thread is a massive faux pas. Indecent really.

I've seen those 16mm pots with elongated leads. I wonder if those would be a better fit for these kinds of switches. I realized the fit issue right as I was done drilling and had a @$#@% moment. But it all worked out. And yes, too much thread makes me uncomfortable and sweaty
