DIY Home Audio System

I am preparing to undertake a DIY electronics project. My goal is to build a stereo audio amplifier that will be used in a DIY home audio system, capable of driving standard 8 ohm speakers with a good balance between power and clarity. The amplifier will be based on an operational amplifier, which will be used in a differential amplifier configuration to handle positive and negative audio signal inputs.

When choosing an operational amplifier, I have two options, the STMicroelectronics TDA2030 and the Renesas HA17324A. Does anyone know which of these two performs better?

There are a number of DIY home stereo forums; while this forum focuses on effects-pedal-building, I'm sure there are a few here who also dabble in HI-FI. Your question might get some traction here, but it will definitely find a mark in a forum dedicated to DIY stereos.

I've heard of the TDA2030 in a positive light, but while I've heard of Renesas, I just haven't heard of that chip as much as the 2030. That doesn't mean much, though, just that I'm not as familiar with it so I don't know which would be better for your application.

Maybe go into more detail about the project you wish to pursue, as you can design a bad circuit around a good chip more easily than a good circuit around a mediocre (or any quality) chip. It's not just the part, it's what you do with it. Case in point, the Klon Centaur pedal...
