DOD Punkifier / Pacifier gain increase mod?

Hey y'all,
My google-fu isn't getting me there so I'm hoping someone knows a bit about this circuit. I swear I read about a mod that increased the gain of the OD into distortion territory. I believe the OD side of the circuit is based on a classic OD of some sort so I assume any mods that exist for that could be applied. Also any other fun mods to this circuit would be welcomed. Cheers!

I built my unit in april 21.

I have been experimenting various transistors, without doing any change with values and IC.

I settled with two 2N2369A in Q1 and Q3 and a 2N4401 in Q2. Now i am pleased.

Chuck suggested these transistors to me (only on Q2) in reply #8 : https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/pacifier-transistor-voltage-question.6455/

I give him all my thanks again.

Since then, I did a lot of trials, and I am curious to know what you will do...

It's a great circuit, among my favorites, to say the least.

I hope this Punkifier thread will thrive !

Edit : oh, and I did a modification, I just realize there is an extra pot on my build...a Bias control allowing to control the voltage on one transistor, it's interesting, I do use it often to shape the fuzz character. Let me see what I did there...I remember I followed some ideas from this forum, but I can't easily find where...

Edit 2 : here it is : https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/fuzz-control-on-the-pacifier.1794/#post-93009

Thank you for this info. I will check out your bias mod. I've build a few of these in the past, stock, and I love them. I just find the OD side weak and the drive knob useless as I keep that cranked. I'm looking to get a heavier distortion out of the OD side. I'm going to play with the clipping diodes too.

I often use a volume boost before the Pacifier, it's quite effective and I have good results. You could try an integrated boost, or even build a whole new gain stage somewhere ? Like M-Glory adds a gain stage to a Blues Breaker right ?
