This one has been ready for a few months but I didn't have knobs, which finally arrived the other day. This pair of builds features two very large Hammond enclosures (the powder coat is top notch I must say!) that were rescued from the garbage by a friend of mine who was kind enough to send them to me. Each pedal contains a Depot Fuzz, Amentum Boost and XB-MB preamp (right to left). I used switched jacks to allow insert/return between each pair or to enable reordering. I promised one of them to a very old friend of mine from Italy who is planning on using this guy with bass and synths.
The build went mostly smoothly, but I found those switched jacks from LMS to be a bit too delicate and I think I broke one of them (maybe overheated or maybe defective) and I still need to replace it.
Let's talk about sounds: the Depot is an interesting fuzz with the voice control affecting the mid-range in very effective ways, providing quite a range of different fuzz tones. I find the treble to do very little to the tone (unless the subtle change was caused by me making the same exact mistake on two different PCBs), but I read that's normal for this pedal. The Amentum has a nice character and lots of volume, perfect to saturate the next stage. At first I didn't think I liked the XB-MB, but after playing a bit more with the eq, specifically boosting mid and treble and rolling back the bass a bit, I find it quite nice, and with a surprising amount of gain on tap.
All the dirt I could possibly use all in one box!
