DuoCast Sound Issues

Hi everyone, I'm having troubles with my DuoCast build.
The sound it produces on both channels resembles a terribly sounding gated fuzz and it hardly changes when turning down the gain knob or the trim pots.

I did check all the soldering and redid those joints that looked suspicious, with no effect. I also measured the values of the resistors etc. Everything seems to be in place.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Did you apply any part substitutes? If the OC71 was substituted, it may require re-biasing.

Sure the BJTs are correctly oriented? Do you what their respective gain values are? What voltage supply are you using? (Gotta ask the simple questions first. )

Any good, clear photos of the circuit board and wiring?
