End of the year push

Every year, I usually set a couple goals for myself for the year as a way to keep me motivated, and I'm usually really successful at doing things that I set out to do.

At the end of last year, I made a short but optimistic list of things I wanted to accomplish this year knowing I was going to have a baby, but didn't expect to have a preemie or spend weeks commuting to a hospital in a different part of the state. At some point, I reevaluated what I wanted to get done for the year and decided I want to try to finish every pedal that I have that is currently in some state of partial completion. That usually means I've started populating a board, have graphics done, or the enclosure prepped.

That puts me at finishing 12 pedals before the end of the year. In theory, all the parts are already here, too. Can I do it? Maybe. I'm gonna try!

What are you aiming to do by year's end?

I breadboarded it a while ago, but a modded Heavy Spider (epider sounds heavy metal) with a tone stack and recovery stage. I was happy with the sound (reminds me of earlier Sepultura).
Any chance on sharing your mod? I built one of these and love it but wouldn’t mind a bit more out of it. It’s a small circuit easy to build another thanks

Honestly idk what I will get done before the end of the year but here's a but of what I go in the pipeline:

Major:
  • I am a senior in college, so it's time to figure out job stuff. I also want to make the best of this last year for me and my friends.
  • Christmas presents! I am a huge DIY guy, and for one of my friends I will be making him prop gun from Rust (one of our favorite games). I like to make cards and other small things for people too.
  • I am trying to get my work area back together after we painted our basement floor. So I have all the pieces for a snazzy new bench that I need to finish.
Minor (don't need to happen before the end of the year):
  • I want to make and sell some of my own pedal designs, maybe offer PCBs. This isn't time sensitive but it is a dream I want to work towards.
  • Buy Ableton with my edu discount before I can't.
  • I want get a little mixology hobby going.
  • Explore my creativity more through music, and start doing some youtubing and blogging about my interests. This is mostly an outlet for me, and just because I love to share (this post is proof lol), even if no one sees it.
  • I have a bunch of unfinished PCBs from various places, most are populated though and just need a few more parts to be boxed up.

I also have an exciting announcement for the you all on the forum, which I'll be putting out later today!

Adding a BMP tone stack right before output, then an LPB-1 for recovery. BMP has that (in)famous mid scoop. I tried it on the breadboard and was pleased with the sound. I wrote up a few things about both in the Test Kitchen if you're interested.

Edit: If you've got the PCB you would add the tone stack and lpb-1 (stripboard) on lug 3 of the volume pot. The "boost" knob of the lpb-1 is your new volume knob.

I would like to finish up a few projects by years end. But if USPS would stop losing my parts and I get the current Fuzz I’m working (still some pondering how to execute what is turning into a strange layout) done I will be happy.
