External reverb bypass switch

Hello, new here,
I would like to put my Sproing board inside a small solid state amp that I am building and want to be able to control the reverb on/off with an external foot switch to control the bypass, any suggestions as the best or easiest way to do this? Could I insert the switch at the wiper of the reverb control pot?

I would use a relay bypass module of some sort so the footswitch cable doesn't carry the audio signal.

It doesn't necessarily have to be this, but something similar.

Hi Robert,
That's makes sense, I tried breaking the wiper connection and it was causing a minor issue, your solution seem the best way to go. That's what I'll do. Just ordered what I needed.
