This was thought about and made specifically for the Muff contest. Which I assume is still going on. (Don't think I've seen an official entry yet)
This could actually fit into the criteria for the PHB contest since I built it yesterday with mostly stuff I had on hand. But, since rules dictate, I can only enter one with this build, so I'm entering for the Muff contest.
First, I'll say, this Muff does not suck. I personally love the Op Amp Muffs and this is just a 1 Knob version.
This was built from a layout for the Frost Giant Electronics Little Acid Fuzz. Which happens to be a clone of the EHX Little Big Muff (IC version). Except, this one takes the silly tone toggle switch and puts it on a trimmer on the board.
I feel this gives that pedal just a tad more versatility. All the way CW is awful but there are some good sounds on the other side of the knob.
I had an enclosure from SBP that had been sitting waiting for the right build. Well, better time than any. It's called Alexandrite and pictures do not do it justice. It looks killer from all angles. Super happy with how it looks on the outside.
On the inside, it is what it is. It's stripboard. Takes a lot of patience to get it clean and tidy. And it's something I am far from mastering. I'd much rather have built on a PCB. Maybe someday PPCB will sell a board based on the Little Big Muff, or better yet the Little Acid Fuzz.
This thing rips. There really is nothing overcomplicated with it, just crushing Muff in your face with the turn of 1 big ol' volume knob.
This one checks a lot of boxes for me as a doom machine. So, I can confidentially say, this Muff does not suck.
Here is a video I recorded on my phone. Using my Epiphone SG Custom in C Standard into a clean Marshall Origin 20H.
