Further down the Ge rabbit hole, possible stupid question

I have a really good PNP FF I'm building, and next to it on the breadboard is a PNP Rangemaster. All GT402I transistors. I have selectable clipping diodes on the RM, also Soviet germanium of course for mojo, and with the FF cranked and the diodes on I get some octave up.

You jest, Shirley (don't call me, surely), but I did make a Ge Darlington boost for bass (basically it was Rangemaster topography but with much larger input and output caps and heavily low-passed at the input), stuck a pair of clipping diodes at the end, and it made the most godawful Jack Bruce/Felix Pappalardi/Mel Schacher-type of blowing-up-the-amp tone. 'Twas glorious.
Those are like all my favorite bass tones 😤

It's so satisfying being able to get in that ballpark of tone without having to worry (not as much, at least) about causing some nearby star several light-years away to implode...

"Shall we run through 'Nantucket Sleighride' once more?" 💥
