Fv-1 and soldering heat

Hello,
I ordered a vhs kit from Musikding. It will be the 23rd pedal I ever built, but I am afraid that I might have a dumb question.

The FV-1 is an smd component, so I would normally start populating the board with it. So... Since it is a chip is this a bad idea? Can it stand the heat of soldering in all the other components?

I always solder the FV-1 first, it's easier since the board will lay flat on the bench.

The IC will experience far more heat when you're soldering it than when you're soldering all of the other components.
