Getting a mac mini m4

Well after waiting nearly a month, Amazon changed the delivery date to 4/15. Screw that, I cancelled.

I decided to check out the apple site and low and behold if I sign up for Apple Credit I can get 12 interest free payments. So I did. And while I was at it I upgraded the memory to 24GB and ssd drive to 512GB.

Also paid for preload of their AI assisted video editing "Final Cut Pro" and music editing "Logic Pro". Both of these are one time purchase, not "rent ware".

I broke down and ordered a m4pro mini the other night from Amazon. They had 'em for a couple hundred off and my PC is over 13 years old so I figured I deserve a new one. I'm sorry to hear you cancelled your order. Mine isn't getting here until the middle to end of April but I'm in no rush. I was going to order one when the m1 came out but I took that money and bought Apple stock instead....so they're basically paying me to take one at this point! :D

Being a photographer I've only ever used Mac. My wife uses Mac also but has a PC laptop from work too. Every time I see the screen I am amazed at how ugly the design is. And it keeps making irritating beep and chimes that are like muzak.

Mine came early on Sunday. I still haven't got it fully setup and I'm waiting on the TB5 external case for my main storage (supposedly 6000MB/sec) but so far so great! People seem to dig the tiny case for it too! I didn't consider how many things I need to plug into it and I wound up getting a TB4 dock for expansion.

It’s gonna happen soon. My 2010 mini is crashing occasionally, sometimes it reboots without loading Finder. I maxed out the RAM at 8GB and it’s on it’s 2nd SSD. I’m stuck on OS 10.13.6, Ableton 11, old Monodraw, old Soulver. Can’t install Affinity Designer or Jetbrains IDEs, and a few other programs I have licenses for.

Being budget-minded, I started looking at M1 minis. But an entry level M4 mini is only a few hundred more. 16GB RAM / 256GB storage should be fine for what I do.

I’ll need a new AD/DA interface too. I’m assuming the ancient drivers for my Apogee Firewire Duet will not work.

My base Mac mini M2 is fantastic with logic.

I had to intentionally crash it running a vst and 4 reverbs on each channel I got it to 90+ tracks.

I’m curious to hear how the Mini does with Logic. I have a MacBook Pro and I have worked with projects with 20+ tracks but it does struggle at times so I was considering the Mini.
