For reasons, I’ve started building things again. Maybe just needed a little retail dopamine hit from getting packages in the mail and building. Trying to stay within the limits of parts on hand to mitigate having to order a bunch from stateside suppliers. First up is a Poison Apple auto wah. Built a GuitarPCB SWAH awhile back and really liked it on guitar but sold it to a friend so decided to replace it. This one ended up give me some fits. Made me have to troubleshoot some. Long story short I had to wangjangle the power supply to the regulator since I wasn’t getting voltage to the regulator or any 5v to the bc550s. Wasn’t getting continuity from the cathode side of D4 pad to the input of the regulator. Once I got that sorted it was on to the funk. I think I like this circuit for guitar because it doesn’t get quite as spiky in the treble.

Boxes and hardware from SBP.
Next is a Soul Drive. I have a commercial Plimsoul that I love and was super curious ab how close Robert’s version got. I did connect the clippers to TP1 with added 220uf filter caps as suggested around here. Also used standard 914 instead of 916 diodes because that’s what I have and according to most sources there really isn’t huge difference in vf. TL072 as the IC since the one in my commercial is sanded off. There are certainly some tonal differences in the 2 but could be chalked up to my substitutions. That said I enjoy the Soul Drive just as much as the Plimsoul proper.

Lastly I got on the band wagon with @Aleph Null ‘s Troglodyte reverb. It was fortuitous because I had mistakenly ordered a 1590bb box instead of the XX I needed for another build. Couldn’t let it sit unstuffed. Man this thing is great! The Spirit Box has been a long term resident on my board but it may not be there much longer. I love having the oscillation foot switch especially with the saturation/distortion up gives a very nice white noise blast much like the Caroline Meteore reverb I have. I didn’t know I needed a dampen function, but having the base verb on the verge of oscillation and being able to ramp it down is super fun. I still haven’t exhausted the tones in this thing. The board is laid out well and the build was pretty straight forward. Yeah, that’s sharpie on scotch tape sue me🤣.

I have a 6 band pot version and creamery compressor that I finished up as well, but those are boring utility pedals so they will sit unreported on for now. Until next time good folks…..
