hFE and biasing Rosemary fuzz?

Howdy folks,

Does anyone know how the Rosemary is meant to be biased, and where the measurements are taken? Ground and one of legs of the BC239s I'm guessing?

Also is there a specific gain range or measurement for the BC239s, and/or for the J201? I'm guessing no on the J201, and PGS Andy mentions that the transistors are low gain. I plan on measuring a few and using the lowest 2 I have handy.
