I bought a bunch of military radio equipment - here’s my parts haul

Was striking out at the antique mall looking for transistor radios to salvage transistors, had almost finished looking through all the booths when suddenly the heavens opened up. Piles upon piles of military rack gear, components in full view, priced very VERY reasonably.

In total I got 40ish transistors, all working, most of which germanium. Piles of diodes, most of which I can’t identify. Feel free to pass along any info you have on those. Some vintage knobs. And a lifetime supply of carbon comp resistors, whatever that is worth.

2 rack units, a Mullard radio tube because I liked the box, a couple LED’s with metal bezels, and a mystery box of random junk…

Get this. 25 dollars.

So behold my spoils, and if you’re the salvaging type, if you see decommissioned military equipment that looks like the inside of the Terminator, snatch that **** up because it’s full of gold.

Love it!

Them carbon comps are sensitive to moisture: vintage examples can tend to be pretty far out of spec, but you can sometimes nudge them back by baking 'em in the oven on low temp for a while.

I've got a small vacuum chamber for that purpose. Dehydrating.
