Intelligent Relay Bypass Module ft Ibanez Soundtank!

Hey folks,

I just want to tell you how happy I'm rn. So I got an Ibanez CS5 chorus from the soundtank series this last december, then I did some mods but I was not able to use it as a Vibrato so I decided to make it true bypass, I had a footswitch on the lid and a blinking led.

It looked really crappy, then I decided to rehouse it but then it failed and I guess this was because the 3pdt was forcing the pcb so I didn't want to fix it since it was super cheap....

Next thing I planned to build a Caesar but then I saw another CS5 super cheap on Ebay. Ok I got too exited but this time I wanted to keep the aesthetic of the soundtank pedal and as fallen from heaven I discovered the IRBM. I did my order last sunday and the pcb arrived yesterday, so I was working on it since last night and I just finished it.

I must admit I didn't have all the components like the regulator and the capacitors so I had to harvest from other forgotten projects.

I didn't want to make a huge hole like the last time so I just broke the traces from the original switch and booom!!! It worked!!! since the point of this was to use it as a Vibrato I also removed the c30 cap that has a value of 0.1 uf

This was a really good project and the result is awesome, then I discovered that if I hold the footswitch the pedal turns on but turns off when I release, this is an amazing feature of the IRBM.

To finish I wanted to replace the main IC but it seems like it is using a 5218A and it sounds nice, I mean sounds warmer than my first CS5, maybe it is just snake oil, then I did replace a 56n cap in the LFO for a 47n to make it faster and of course I want to introduce another switch to make it chorus but I don't know where to place it and I don't want it on sides.

Now I want a stereo version to do the same with my DOD FX60 chorus, please Robert make a Stereo version of the IRBM.

So I guess this is a good idea if you have an Ibanez sountank. Thanks for reading all this!
