Antique Electronic Supply has 10% off right now for Memorial Day so I went ahead and bought all the hardware. I think I am going to build a cab out of wood rather than buy the Hammond cage cover thing. We will see. I still have PTSD from my last tolex attempt hahaha.

A good way of doing tolex is to lay the box down in the center of the tolex, spray the side of the box and the tolex on that side. Then you carefully tilt the box over on top of the glue, then you spray what was the bottom and the tolex on that side and flip it back. Etc. This way everything is pre-positioned so there's no messing around with trying to align insta-stick glue.

Chassis, OT, PT and most of the small bits just got here. I’m off work tomorrow and Monday. Time to start populating! Also, I emailed Ben from Inverted Cross Audio to confirm part number for the power switch. It is indeed the APEM 644 H/2 on-on-on ($23 from mouser)

I finally got some work done on this amp. I have most of the resistors and capacitors soldered in except the ones I forgot to order . I have to work Saturday but I have a week off after that so hopefully I will make a little more progress next week too.

Got a little more done on the amp today. I’ve been dreading drilling out the chassis but I finally did the front and back. I’m going to solder in the pots and make sure every lines up then use the pcbs position inside to chassis to mark and drill the top of the chassis. Also got some faceplates from AmplifyFun. The cardboard looking thing is a clear plexiglass front it just has the covering on it still. I want the finished amp today have the Hughes and Kettner kinda look but cooler.

I quite like the soldering iron meets mushrooms vibe of the original faceplate. Not so much on a dark stage maybe.

Finally got some more work done on this amp build. Gonna do some finish sanding and staining on the head tomorrow then finish it with tru oil on Sunday. I finally finished drilling the chassis by hand after getting frustrated because my drill kept overheating. Hopefully I will get it wired up in the next 2 months.

Stained the wood with varathane then slapped some tru oil on to finish it.
