Its not a pedal though.....

I thought i would ask for some assistance with my Peavey Pacer amps from 1976, i noticed someone has changed the values of some caps and also changed them to box type film caps, i can do basic repair and diagnostics but circuit design isn't my strong point. All box caps seem to be 100nf?

Just wondering if anyone on here can tell me what effect these different cap values will have on the circuit? I have photographed the PCB's and put the images together for a better idea.

Any input appreciated.

What about this cap being changed from 220nf to 100nf? Any disadvantages?

Probably reduces unnecessary bass freqs and helps to avoid overloading transistor. Is there enough lows for you atm?
Strange you mention low end, I only just got the amp last week so I didn't spend much time with it other than to confirm it was operational.

I plugged in my Maxon DS830 last night and it had noticeably more bass when running that pedal in front, I wonder if I should change the 100nf back to 220nf? It does sound a bit thin on its own...

Il be taking the circuit board out soon anyway as I don't like the filter caps someone installed and they also fit a 1k resistor that is physically too large and fouling other components.

Thanks for the input.

One more thing about your test with and without pedal in front. Are you sure your ears tell the truth and mix hop on gain level and compression as more bass? Record or look into it with visual eq/freq analyser (for example voxengo span), but remember to set volume on both options as near as you can.

You can parallel another 100nf cap with the one currently there for a total of 200nf. This would be a quick test to let you hear the difference.
Nevermind, just realized you cant easily access the leads on the cap currently installed.
