Looking for an apprentice (sort of).

I've had to retire from audio work for... reasons, but I still get requests to repair vintage & rare EHX now and then.

Is there anyone out there that would feel capable of repairing an EHX EH-8000 guitar synth with my guidance for a fellow in need?

Obviously, not the easiest unit to work on so you'll need a bit of repair experience under your belt and preferably be a recognised member... know of a couple of others that need repairing if it works out.

Thanks!

What's the story on it? I may want to giver a go. I've been doing electronic music gear repairs since the 70's and building pedals for the last 10 years. I've also done a good bit of successful side work for Johnny over at Alchemy Audio for some of the older pedals and effects he wasn't familiar with.

I already have the schematics and calibration notes for the EH-8000. Due to the season, it won't be a fast turn around.

Excellent, well I'm familiar with the circuit in depth if you need help and have access to all the rarities if any parts are needed.

At the moment all I know is it just doesn't turn on. It was sent to Julia (the designer) who didn't have time to track the issue, I don't know how far she got or if she started work at all and then she referred the customer to me.

Could simply be a dead transformer or the power supply gone.

I'm sure they'll be understanding and quite happy to have some willing to work on it, PM me your e-mail and I'll get you two in contact.
