Hi everyone,
I faced a problem that was solved but I want to share in case anyone else has this. My pedals were making loud sounds, almost like firecrackers or explosions. It sounded like a conflict zone.
I thought i was clever using lots of flux to get good strong solder joints. But i didn't realize that flux is actually conductive.... You have to do a REALLY good job cleaning it off of the board. I put 91% isopropyl alcohol in a small bowl, then dipped a new toothbrush in the alcohol and went to work. My tube screamer is now DEAD silent. It's actually hauntingly quiet... until I turn up the guitar volume of course
