Lovepedal Champ gain pot

I would like to add a gain pot to this circuit, the Lovepedal Champ. Can anybody help? I have no knowledge on electronics.Thanks in advice

Replace that bottom 390r resistor going to ground from the emitter with a 1k potentiometer. C1k might work better than B1k.
