Low Ballers question (hypothetically of course)

So you got this freind who put a Lo Baller together and barely had any effect , upon examination it was found a mylar cap was used in place of a tantalum same value wrong type That would be c3 470nf . Would this be the reason why there is no effect? Can an electrolytic be used in place of a tantalum here? My friend would really like to know and is too embarrassed to ask himself. Any extra info as to what impact this would have on the circuit would be very appreciated. The only bonus to ascrew uo on a build is learning from it My friend thanks you in advance

There's no DC on that cap and a film cap should work fine

Agreed with @jwin615 there, if you use a film cap instead of a tantalum then it will not affect the pedal working or not. If our hypothetical friend wanted to post some pictures of this hypothetical build I'm sure the sharp people on this forum would be happy to take a look and see if anything looks amiss.
